How We Can Help

This program provides options for people experiencing financial or personal hardship with regard to resolving their current SPER debt.

As such, this SPER Assistance Program provides the opportunity for people to participate in relevant training whilst simultaneously reducing their SPER debts through a Work and Development order. A Work and Development order enables people in financial hardship or any facing hardship in other areas to resolve their eligible debt by completing relevant programs.

a) Department of Veteran Affairs benefit (must provide evidence):  

  • Incapacity, disability, etc.

b) Or Centrelink benefits (must provide evidence):

  • Abstudy
  • Age pension
  • Austudy
  • Carer payment
  • Disability support pension
  • JobSeeker payment
  • Parenting payment
  • Sickness allowance
  • Youth allowance

Steps to Get Started

The application process consists of two steps.

First, we will review your application and contact you to discuss suitable programs.
Second, we will evaluate your eligibility once registered for a Work and Development Order.

SPER will inform you directly regarding the approval of your Work and Development order, which will align with the commencement of your course.

Step 1 - Apply for a Five Bridges Programs

You will subsequently be required to complete an application form for your chosen course. This step may necessitate re-entering some of your details.

Step 2 - Register for a Work and Development order

Review the program available on the Five Bridges website and fill out the registration form on this page. (Make sure to also upload your income support evidence document in the designated section).
The information collected from the form will be used to verify your outstanding SPER debt and assess your eligibility for the program.

Eligibility Criteria

The program is being run by Five Bridges in partnership with the State Penalties Enforcement Registry (SPER).

To participate, individuals must be residents of Queensland

Individuals who are eligible to participate must be at least 15 years old

Eligible Age

Individuals who are eligible to participate must be at least 15 years old.

Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident (including humanitarian entrant), temporary resident with appropriate visas and work permits on a pathway to permanent residency, or a New Zealand citizen
